Dammeron Valley man arrested for dealing drugs in Santa Clara

ST. GEORGE — The Santa Clara-Ivins Police arrested a Dammeron Valley man at 7 p.m., Thursday, in the parking lot of the Lightfoot’s convenience store at 2275 West Santa Clara Drive in Santa Clara.

Police arrested David Glade Sorensen, 23, of Dammeron Valley, and charged him with first-degree felony drug distribution, second-degree felony drug possession, class-A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and class-C misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. The drug charges were enhanced because the arrest took place directly across the street from the Washington County Public Library, Santa Clara branch.

According to the probable cause statement filed in conjunction with the arrest, police had received previous information that Sorensen was allegedly “dealing drugs” and officers made contact with him in the parking lot of Lightfoot’s.

During their investigation officers found heroin and drug paraphernalia in Sorensen’s possession and they learned that Sorensen had come to the Santa Clara Lightfoot’s location to sell heroin, the statement said.

Sorensen was booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility and his bail stands at $37,150.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
