MESQUITE, Nev. – Bright colored balloons will take to the skies above Mesquite for the 2014 Hot Air Balloon Festival Saturday and Sunday.
The Stars and Stripes balloon will be the first to launch and begin the festivities each morning, followed by more than 20 other balloons as they chase the lead balloon and race around the Virgin Valley.
As the sun goes down, a balloon glow will take place in the evening, offering spectators a breathtaking view of inflated balloons lighted by their burners in the south parking lot of the CasaBlanca Resort and Casino. Spectators are invited to walk among the inflated hot air balloons on display for an up-close experience and opportunity to chat with the pilots and walk around the balloons.
The Mesquite Balloon Festival will also offer culinary and entertainment festivities for the whole family.
Saturday, Jan. 25, event schedule
- 6 a.m. – Hot Air Balloon set up at Oasis Resort parking lot
- 6:45 a.m. – Pilot Meeting at Oasis Resort parking lot
- 7:30 a.m. – Balloon Launch at Oasis Resort parking lot
- 9:30-10 a.m. – “Squawk! The Show” Bird Show at the CasaBlanca Resort Showroom
- 11-11:30 a.m. – “Squawk! The Show” Bird Show at the CasaBlanca Resort Showroom
- 2:30-3:30 p.m. – Special Family Variety Show of Shows at the CasaBlanca Resort Showroom
- 4-6 p.m. – Champagne Tasting at CasaBlanca Resort Skydome Lounge
- 6-7 p.m. – Balloon Night Glow at the CasaBlanca south parking lot
- 8:30 p.m. – Neil Diamond the Tribute starring Rob Garrett and the KOD band at CasaBlanca Resort Showroom. 21 and older only.
Sunday, Jan. 26, event schedule
- 6 a.m. – Hot Air Balloon set up at Oasis Resort parking lot
- 6:45 a.m. – Pilots Meeting at Oasis Resort parking lot
