ST. GEORGE — A two-car accident occurred Tuesday around 4:15 p.m. just west of the Dixie Rock, historically the Dixie Sugarloaf, near the intersection of Red Hills Parkway and Skyline Drive.

A Red Chevy Corsica was reportedly traveling east on Red Hills Parkway approaching the Skyline Drive intersection. A white Nissan Maxima was stopped at the intersection coming from the opposite direction attempting to turn left onto Skyline Drive, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said. The Maxima reportedly turned left in front of the Corsica and the Corsica T-boned the Maxima.

Medical responders were dispatched as a precaution but no one was transported to the hospital, Despain said.

“The driver stated that they were looking at a different car making a right hand turn off the parkway,” Despain said, “but really didn’t have any good explanation other then they thought it was clear to go.”

After the accident, the Corsica had to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the Maxima was given a citation for failure to yield.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.
