Tonight’s Region 9 games

————————–

Snow Canyon (7-4, 2-0) at Dixie (8-4, 1-2) at Pine View (9-2, 1-1), 7 p.m. at the Hangar
Broadcast: Triplecast! Video streaming on STGNews.com; ESPN 106.1 FM Radio; CEC-TV 22 (Baja Cable)

WARRIORS
snow-canyon-smCoach: James Brown
Record: 7-4 overall, 2-0 in region
Streak: 1 win
PPG: 58.4
PAPG: 57.8
Probable starters: Hayden Anderson (5.4 ppg), Nate Gottfredson (16.5), Tanner Sampson (10.2), Chase Jenkins (6.3), Jacob Frei (8.8)
Other key contributors: Brock Staheli (3.8), Warner Rigby (2.7)

FLYERS
dixie-smCoach: Ryan Cuff
Record: 8-4 overall, 1-2 in region
Streak: 1 loss
PPG: 55.6
PAPG: 49.4
Probable starters: RJ Wilgar (8.9 ppg), Tyler Bennett (5.9), Harrison Labrum (5.3), Jake Hawes (12.2), Jake Christiansen (3.9)
Other key contributors: Izaic Blazzard (3.0), Sam Guymon (10.0) is most likely out due to injury

Game Outlook: This will be a true test of character for Dixie, which is coming off two devastating losses — a 17-point defeat at the hands of Pine View and the loss of Guymon for an undetermined amount of time due to a concussion. How will the young Flyers respond in the face of adversity? It helps to be at home. For Snow Canyon, things seem to be headed in the right direction, with a big time blowout up at CV. The Warriors are the only team without a loss in region and showed that a slowdown game like what Canyon View tried, just doesn’t work against them. Gottfredson should rule the post against the undersized Flyers.

Canyon View (3-9, 0-2) at Pine View (10-2, 2-1), 7 p.m. at the Pit
Broadcast: 890 AM-KDXU, with Andy Griffin

FALCONS
canyon-view-smCoach: Rob Potter
Record: 3-9 overall, 0-2 in region
Streak: 2 loss
PPG: 49.6
PAPG: 58.7
Probable starters: Keaton Kringlen (8.5 ppg), Koy Huxford (8.5), Sterling Barnes (4.9), Derek Dunnell (4.0), Ty Nielson (3.8)
Other key contributors: Travis Bettridge (3.5), Ryan Jensen (3.5)

PANTHERS
Pine-view-smCoach: Darrell Larsen
Record: 10-2 overall, 2-1 in region
Streak: 3 wins
PPG: 68.9
PAPG: 57.0
Probable starters: Chaz Peterson (10.7), Jack Bangerter (9.3), Kody Wilstead (14.2), Collin Dowdell (11.5), Jed Newby (6.0)
Other key contributors: Ryan Koller (9.0), Garrett Bowker (2.5)

Game outlook: Pine View is talented and Larsen has them playing hard as well. Dowdell doesn’t get near enough credit for his inside game. If he can stay out of foul trouble, he is one of the region’s top big men. Koller has been fantastic off the bench. Pine View would love to turn this game into a track meet and bury the Falcons early. For Canyon View, which has averaged just 27.5 points in the last two games, scoring is a must because the Panthers are going to put up at least 60. CV tried slowing down Snow Canyon and it ended in a 25-point loss, so maybe up-tempo wouldn’t be bad.

————————–

Hurricane (5-8, 1-2) at Cedar (6-5, 1-1), 7 p.m. at Redmen Gymnasium
Broadcast: 590-AM KSUB

TIGERS
hurricane-smCoach: Todd Langston
Record: 5-8 overall, 1-2 in region
Streak: 2 losses
PPG: 48.8
PAPG: 51.9
Probable starters: Kaden Langston (8.9 ppg), Jayce Housley (7.2), Cody LeBaron (12.8), Austen Beatty (5.4), Erik Mitchell (4.8)
Other key contributors: James Bennion (3.8), Jordan Ence (3.3)

REDMEN
cedar-smCoach: Craig Cardon
Record: 6-5 overall, 1-1 in region
Streak: 3 wins
PPG: 52.6
PAPG: 48.1
Probable starters: Kordan Nielson (16.2 ppg), Dustin Staggs (13.6), Kyle Wood (6.5), Kole Dotson (1.7), James Thompson (2.4)
Other key contributors: Greyson Hulet (3.3), Weston Bettridge (2.6)

Game outlook: The Tigers are still a work in progress, but certainly have the ability to put together a good game, including wins over Dixie and Enterprise). LeBaron has been steady Cody, but Hurricane needs more consistency out of the other starters. Beatty will be tested against a big and strong Staggs. Nielson is a first-team all-region guy and similar to SC’s Chandler Gines from last year. But those two need some help as well. Wood can hit the three and will need to tonight.
