SPRINGDALE — Last night, the 4th annual light parade took place as part of the town of Springdale’s “Zion Joy to the World” event — a monthlong holiday season celebration. Participants in the parade were adorned with all sorts of holiday trimmings as they marched along Zion Park Boulevard escorted by a variety of Christmas light clad floats and vehicles.
In its fourth year the light parade has garnered a lot of support from locals. Businesses in Springdale stayed open late to take advantage of the crowds lining the street to watch the parade. A lot of tourists who were caught off guard by the spectacle stopped to watch the approximately 20 entries as the parade of lights passed by.
For those who wanted to warm up by the heater, the band “the Sun Dogs” was performing at the Supermarket Plaza. While the parade was going many businesses also offered free hot chocolate and treats to onlookers. After the parade everyone was invited to the community center for an ice cream social and awards ceremony for the parade entries.

Isn’t it odd that St George doesn’t have a Christmas Parade. Has it ever had a Christmas Parade the last 20 years, the same number of years the mayor and the good ole boys have been running St George?
