Mastering the Mechanics of Crowdfunding for the nonprofit sector training event

ST. GEORGE – American Express will be cosponsoring the Southern Utah Committee of Utah Nonprofits Association’s next educational workshop for nonprofits, Thursday, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Dixie Applied Technology College. The workshop will focus on creating effective, strategic crowdfunding campaigns for the nonprofit sector.

A grant from the American Express organization will provide free training to all members of the Utah Nonprofits Association. This is the second of four such sponsorships for educational programs that are provided to local nonprofits. Locally, UNA provides opportunities for nonprofits to attend training, network and collaborate to help create success and longevity for the many valued services and programs they provide to the community.

Devin Thorpe, author and Community Foundation of Utah team member will be leading the class. In attendance from Salt Lake City will be Chris Bray, Executive Director of the Utah Nonprofits Association. Attendees of this class will learn how to leverage the upcoming Love Utah Give Utah event slated for March 20, 2014. In addition, a Foundation Database Membership will be given to one lucky attendee with a value of $950. The prize will help the lucky nonprofit to research and find grants and funding from the many Foundations across the nation.

The meeting will include a continental breakfast and a review of the process for creating a successful crowdfunding campaign, from creating a powerful video to building a strategy for leveraging existing friends, fans and followers to expand your base of support and grow your organization for the future. Participants are encouraged to come prepared to discuss their crowdfunding campaign plans and questions.

Every Southern Utah UNA educational program includes time for practical discussion, networking and the sharing of experiences with your nonprofit peers. Workshops focus on nonprofit organizations, but are open to all community members.
