Local churches cancel Sunday services, observing public safety warnings

ST. GEORGE – In light of public safety alerts issued by Washington County public safety agencies, some local churches have canceled Sunday services, urging members to stay home and avoid driving unless absolutely necessary.

Utah’s Dixie was pummeled with a snow storm Saturday lasting about 10 hours and giving rise to snow accumulations on roads and highways, which turned icy as the night wore on. Many of the municipalities are not equipped for snow removal and are therefore largely urging the public to wait it out until snow and ice on the roads melts.

Following is a developing list of churches that have canceled Dec. 8 services:

Please email [email protected] if you know of a church or regular Sunday gathering that has canceled services or meetings this morning, so we may add them to the listing.

The St. George Catholic Church is not canceling and will hold mass today as usual.
