ST. GEORGE — An adult probation and parole agent with Arizona’s Mohave County Probation Department was shot early this morning on the 400 East block of Tabernacle Street in St. George.
The agent was shot in the upper leg at sometime around 6:20 a.m. by a man wearing a white hockey mask, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said in a statement released this morning. The shooter fled the scene on foot, Despain said, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
The agent was taken by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wound. His injury was not considered life-threatening.
“St. George Police detectives are currently processing the crime scene,” Despain said, “and gathering information.”
The shooter is described as a slender man, around 6 feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants at the time of the shooting.
