ST. GEORGE – The Arizona Highway Patrol has released the name of the deceased victim involved in Monday night’s fatal triple-car crash. The AHP is also asking for the public’s help in finding the party responsible for the accident.

Amy Brickey, 41, of St. George, was killed when the Honda Accord that she was a passenger in, rear-ended a Toyota 4-Runner that was left on southbound Interstate 15 around mile post 19 in Arizona. After colliding with the 4-Runner, the Accord was then rear-ended by a Hyundai Santa Fe. The driver of the Accord, Joe Maffucci, 48, of LaVerkin, was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, AHP Sgt. John Bottoms said.

The occupants of the Santa Fe, a couple in their 60s, were taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center, Bottoms, added.

The three-vehicle accident happened around 6:30 p.m. when the 4-Runner was left on I-15 after becoming separated from a vehicle that had been towing it. Bottoms said a tow-chain and tow-strap were used to pull the 4-Runner behind the lead-vehicle. The strap and chain separated from the lead-vehicle and was ultimately left in the roadway with flashers on.

Other cars swerved around the 4-Runner to avoid it until the collision occurred, resulting in the fatality and shutting down southbound I-15 until around 2 a.m.

Bottoms said an individual was in the 4-Runner and fled the scene with the driver of the lead-vehicle. The Arizona Highway Patrol is currently looking for any information on the lead-vehicle and the individuals involved, and is asking the public if they noticed the black 1997 Toyota 4-Runner being towed on south I-15 between 6-6:30 p.m., Monday.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call 928-347-6385.
