Task Force arrests Washington City man on multiple drug charges

WASHINGTON CITY – A Washington City man was arrested Tuesday, on multiple drug charges, by the Washington County Drug Task Force.

Members of the Washington County Drug Task Force were preparing to execute a search warrant at a residence on Urie Drive in Washington City when they encountered Jesse William James, 38, in the front yard. They observed James throw a small container into the bushes as the task force approached. He was subsequently arrested by task force officers. James also allegedly made self-incriminating statements about drug possession, St. George Police Capt. Kyle Whitehead said.

The task force proceeded to search the home and found substances believed to be heroin, methamphetamine and hashish. “We hardly ever see see (hashish),” Whitehead said.

Whitehead said some of the alleged narcotics were packaged for possible distribution.

James was booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility and charged with two counts of second-degree drug possession, one count of first-degree drug distribution, and one class-A misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia. Bail is currently set at $41, 943.

Persons charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
