ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Sean McDonald booted a 44-yard field goal with one second left on the clock to lead Central Washington to a come from behind 27-24 victory over visiting Dixie State Saturday afternoon.
Dixie State led 17-3 at the half and held a 24-17 lead with less than three minutes left in the game. But the Wildcats took advantage of a poor DSU punt and drove 45 yards to tie the game at 24-24 with 2:23 left on a Jesse Zalk 7-yard run. The Red Storm tried to respond, but three quick plays netted just five yards and used just 43 seconds.
Central Washington then from its own 32 to the Dixie State 27 in just over 90 seconds, setting McDonald up for the game-winner. Zalk had the big play on the drive, taking a draw run 26 yards.
