GLENDALE – The celebration of the production, harvest and sale of apple products is here again with the 15th Annual Glendale Apple Festival this Friday and Saturday in Glendale, Utah, on Highway 89.
It is two days of old-fashioned fun, handicrafts and games, which culminates with a large community banquet dinner at the town park in the quaint, vibrant farming community and historic town of Glendale. Attendees of the Glendale Apple Festival are given plenty of opportunities for entertainment and fun, including historic horse drawn wagon rides, a paintball competition and the William Tell Archery Shoot with prizes and trophies for all ages.
The Apple Festival will kick off Friday afternoon with its first ever Apple Grapple Fun Run, an apple-themed obstacle course where participants will tackle an apple bob, plunge into a muddy apple pit, and attempt a wormy apple throw. Only a few participants will then move on to the endurance race apple military course. Registration is $3 and begins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at the Glendale Baseball Field.
Friday evening will feature a concert for all ages with New York musician Mark Abernathy featuring an array of gospel, blues, Appalachian folk, traditional country, and early rock n’ roll sounds. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Carroll Arena in Orderville. Ticket prices are $5 or $18 per family.
On Saturday, Vendor Village will open at 10 a.m. on Center Street where vendors will offer crafts and food all day, selling a variety of goods, including fair staples such as apples and apple pies. Take home fresh home-grown vegetables, baked goods and canned jams.
