Dixie Regional CEO Terri Kane addresses next DSU President’s Colleagues meeting

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State University will host the first President’s Colleagues of DSU meeting of the 2013-14 academic year on Monday, featuring a presentation by Terri Kane, southwest region vice president of Intermountain Healthcare and CEO of Dixie Regional Medical Center.

The meeting will be held at noon in Room 156 of the DSU Russell C. Taylor Health Science Center at Dixie Regional. It is free and open to the public.

Kane will present an update on Intermountain Healthcare and Dixie Regional, and will accept questions following the presentation.

Kane has more than 30 years of distinguished experience in the healthcare industry. She began her career as a bedside nurse and has worked in various capacities, including administrating the women’s and newborn’s services for all of Intermountain Healthcare. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Weber State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Since 2007, Kane has worked as CEO and administrator of Dixie Regional and in 2011, was named southwest region vice president. Under her leadership, the hospital has earned many national honors, including being named in Thomson-Reuters’ Top 100 Hospitals and Top 50 Heart Hospitals and Cleverley + Associates’ 100 Top Hospitals and receiving the Midas + Platinum Quality Award and Health Insight Quality Award (Dixie Regional is the only hospital in Utah or Nevada to win this four consecutive years). She also received the 2003 Intermountain Healthcare Manager of Distinction Award.

The President’s Colleagues of DSU, established more than 20 years ago by former DSU President Dr. Douglas Alder, is a group of retired education professionals who live mostly in Southern Utah. Alder, who also started an honors program at DSU, organized the Colleagues as a way to increase academic activities on campus.

The Colleagues meet monthly during the academic year to hear presentations from each other and invited guests. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 4.
