Hurricane Trail Committee seeks public input on updated master plan

HURRICANE – The Hurricane City Trail Committee has been busy during the last year updating the 1998 Master Trail Plan. Enthusiastic committee members have outlined miles of possible trails by foot, bicycle, and automobile to develop a new twenty-year Trail Master Plan.

Transportation is at the heart of every society and is deeply intertwined with our lifestyles. This new plan is dedicated to creating a community where walking, hiking and bicycling are safe, normal, healthy and fun daily activities. Connecting neighborhoods, parks, shopping areas, and neighboring cities are key elements of this new plan.

The new Trail Master Plan envisions natural surface paths for hiking and mountain biking; paved surface, multi-use paths for walking, running, and recreational cycling; and designated bicycle routes on paved streets for commuting and long distance travel.

The public is invited to meet trail committee members, look at the new Trail Master Plan and make comments. Citizen comment is greatly valued in helping the trail committiee prioritize trail building projects for the next one, five, 10, and 20 years.
