Harold Francis Hinton, 70, born August 6, 1943, in Hurricane, Utah, to Francis (“Drake”) and Alberta Perkins Hinton, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013, from complications following heart surgery. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and served a mission in Germany as well as in Rapid City, SD, with his wife, Loretta Leavitt Hinton. He and Loretta were serving as ordinance workers at the St. George Temple.

Harold received degrees from Utah State University, University of Arizona, and attended Southern Utah University and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was an educator and media specialist, working for 31 years at Hurricane High School, where he touched the lives of countless students and faculty.

A child of homesteaders, Harold was proud of his heritage – a true cowboy – who loved working the family ranch in Cane Beds, AZ.

Harold is a kind, gentle, intelligent, and thoughtful man who is loved and honored by all those who know him. He is survived by his wife of 47 years — inseparable in life with an unbreakable bond that reaches beyond death. Harold has seven children: Eric (Kimberly) Hinton, Dallas, TX; Lori (Brandon) Gubler, Hurricane, UT; Angela (Michele) Hinton, Hurricane, UT; Dustin (Kami) Hinton, Santa Clara, UT; Holly (Nate) Broadbent, Washington, UT; Jeremy (Amber) Hinton, Cedar City, UT; and Kristi (Matt) Patterson, Hurricane, UT. He is “Papa” to 29 grandchildren, who love him as much as he adores them. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Alma Hinton Berg.
