Hurricane City Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 5300 West on SR-9 around just before 7 p.m., Hurricane Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said in a statement.

According to interviews from those involved in the accident and witnesses, a tan Nissan Maxima made a left turn at the 5300 West intersection. The Nissan was traveling westbound and the driver said the sun was in his eyes. At the same time, a white Toyota Avalon was traveling eastbound as the Nissan was turning, and the collision occurred.

The driver of the Nissan, an adult man, was the sole occupant of the car. The Toyota was occupied by an adult man and adult woman. The two men received minor injuries, though they did not require medical transport. However, the woman was taken by Life Flight to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. Buell did not provide details concerning the woman’s condition or the extent of her injuries.

One of the eastbound travel lanes was closed for approximately an hour as officers investigated the scene and the two vehicles were towed away.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
