Details and detours

During I-15 closures, St. George Boulevard will be closed between 1000 East and River Road to allow I-15 Traffic to flow up and over the ramps. Exiting I-15 traffic will only be able to turn right. Crews will take advantage of the St. George Boulevard closure to complete some pipe crossings and drainage work.

Area traffic should use 100 South as an alternate east/west route. Early morning commuters in the vicinity should expect a few extra minutes of travel time and be prepared to take alternate routes.

Because Exit 8 ramps will be used as travel lanes, motorists needing to get on I-15 will have to use Exit 10 Green Springs Drive to the north or Exit 6 Bluff Street or Exit 5 Dixie Drive to the south (please refer to the detour maps located on the project website at www.udot.utah.gov/stgeorgemp8). Dates and times are subject to change.

About the project

The Utah Department of Transportation and the City of St. George’s design-build project includes upgrading the I-15 Interchange at Exit 8 to a Diverging Diamond Interchange and a pedestrian walkway to allow east-west travel over I-15 for non-motorists. Project limits include I-15 and St. George Blvd from 1000 East to River Road, with improvements at the 1000 East and River Road intersections, to enhance traffic flow and safety.

UDOT expects to have the new traffic pattern operational by Friday, Nov. 29, followed by a few weeks of minor construction tasks with minimal traffic interruption.
