HURRICANEOn Thursday, an empty dump truck rolled off a 40-foot embankment at 920 North in Hurricane. The truck had just finished dumping a load of landscaping stone at a residence across the street from the embankment when the accident happened.

The truck, which was parked on a slope, was facing the embankment. The driver of the truck said that he had engaged the parking brake, Hurricane City Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said.

The driver had walked around to the back of the truck and closed the tailgate when the truck began to lurch forward.  It continued to roll across the road and over the sidewalk before tumbling down the 40-foot slope.

There were no passengers in the truck and no one was injured in the accident.

Hurricane Fire and Rescue was called to clean up a fuel spill; however specialized equipment will have to be called in to remove the truck.

Hurricane City Police are still investigating the matter to determine the exact cause of the accident.

“the driver had engaged the parking break” as opposed to the driver being on a coffee brake.

    I get it….
