ST. GEORGE – A suspicious container in the street near the intersection of Bluff Street and Sunset Boulevard caught police attention last night.
A five-gallon bucket sitting in the roadway raised suspicions and police responded at 9:58 p.m., St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said. The Department’s bomb squad was deployed to investigate as a precautionary measure.
The bomb squad took X-rays and determined the bucket was filled with organic or hydroponic fertilizer.
As it turned out, the the bucket had fallen off a truck.

“A suspicious container” Maybe the poor people that got accused of being terrorist a few weeks ago here in town left that bucket as well. This is Saint George people! Your wasting our emergancy services money and time by reporting random object on the street. There could be a kid smoking cigarettes or a methhead steeling copper, SGPD has more important things to focus on.Things like Middle Eastern folks visiting and looking for a school to send there child to. GO FALCONS!
Good St George retard police wasting our tax dollars yet again. St George is not that important! …
Ed. ellipsis.
We don’t get to utilize these services very often so this is good practice so if or when something happens, they will know how to handle the problem. Apparently, the moderator of our reply’s must be slipping. Seeing how you let the F-bomb slide through. Shame, shame, shame. Maybe they are on a coffee brake in Hurricane 🙂 (just in case you don’t get it, see the story about the truck in Hurricane that careened off a cliff.)
Touché, Betty. 😐 Yikes.
Love your site – but would also love to see some hard journalistic reporting.. What ever happened with the “terrorist” incident a few weeks ago. EVERYONE made a huge thing out of it then it just went dead….I don’t think it ever was an issue, but since the Media made an issue, a little follow up would be great. What did Homeland Security find out after Questioning them???
The reason it went it dead is probably because of Homeland Security. You think the feds or even our local law enforcement is gonna keep us informed?
Look on the bright side of this incident. At least the bomb squads “hydroponic fertilizer”, suggestion didn’t have time to morph into a man hunt for a possible fertilizer bomb making (hydroponic) pot farmer.
