ST. GEORGE – Police arrested three men on felony drug distribution charges Sunday after one of the men tried to pass the drugs off to another man while in front of officers.
Police were initially dispatched to the Motel 6 on 1000 East in St. George Sunday on a separate incident, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said. When they were unable to locate the person who had made the call, officers noticed a man, who was acting in a suspicious manner, walk out of a motel room.
Wondering if he had anything to do with the call, officers made contact with the man, 20-year-old Tylor Scott Leon Brotherson of Washington. While speaking with Brotherson it was discovered by officers that he had two warrants out for his arrest.
Next, while being taken into custody, Brotherson tried to “conceal or pass something off” to another man from the motel room, Despain said. Police stopped the pass-off attempt and determined the item Brotherson tried to get rid of was “a large amount of heroin.”
The amount of the heroin seized was such that the officers believed it potentially distributable.
“He tried to pass it off right in front of (officers),” Despain said, “and did a very bad job if it.”
Police arrested the second man, Anthony Scott Robinson, 34, of Las Vegas, as well as Ivan Wolfgang Dale, 20, of St. George, who was also in the motel room.
Aided by the Washington County Drug Task Force, police acquired a warrant to search the motel room. The search produced an additional amount of alleged heroin and drug paraphernalia.
Each man faces two counts of first-degree felony drug distribution and a single class-A misdemeanor offense for drug paraphernalia. Brotherson and Robinson also face an additional third-degree felony obstruction of justice charge.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
