Public comment period, meetings on BLM Arizona Strip travel management plan

ARIZONA STRIP – The Arizona Strip Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management-Arizona will hold a 30-day public review and comment period beginning Monday and ending Sept. 11 for the travel management plan and environmental assessment of the Colorado City, Littlefield and St. George Basin travel areas in northwestern Arizona.

The environmental assessment and travel management plan will be discussed at a series of public meetings over the coming week:

  • Tuesday, 4-6 p.m., at the Kaibab Village Community Building in Kaibab Village, Ariz.
  • Wednesday, 4-6 p.m., at the Dixie Convention Center, 1835 South Convention Center Drive, St. George
  • Thursday, 4-6 p.m., at the Mohave Community College north campus, Room 103, in Colorado City, Ariz.

For those who cannot attend a meeting, the travel management plan and environmental assessment, including the route designation maps, can also be viewed online. For more information on this project, call the BLM Arizona Strip District at 435-688-3200.

Public input is a critical part of developing the travel management plan for these areas that identifies affected resources, safety issues, needed access, possible user conflicts and future maintenance.
