Virgin River Program launches annual calendar photo competition

ST. GEORGE – Professional and amateur photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in the 6th annual Virgin River Program Calendar Photo Competition.  The images, which should feature the Virgin River Basin, wildlife, landscapes or water, will be considered for inclusion in the program’s 2014 calendar.  Images will be accepted now through September 30, 2013.

According to Steve Meismer, local coordinator for the Virgin River Program, the annual competition is a fun way to involve local residents.  “Last year, we had more than 250 entries and we hope to receive even more this year,” he said.  “We love seeing the community through the eyes of those who call it home.”

Participants can submit up to 10 photos.  Landscape orientation is preferred.  High resolution images are required.  Visit www.virginriverprogram.org and click on the “Virgin River Photo Contest: Guidelines and Information” tab for additional information or to submit an entry.

Images featured in the calendar will also be on display at the Division of Wildlife Resources Office.  The grand prize winner will receive an iPod Touch and his/her image will be highlighted on the calendar cover.  All photographers will receive photo credit.

The calendar will be distributed by the Virgin River Program to local elected officials, schools, community leaders and more.
