Lightning sparks fire near Minersville

MINERSVILLE — Color Country inter-agency resources are responding to a lightning-caused fire, burning approximately three miles south east of Minersville which began at 5 p.m., Tuesday. The fire has been called the “Black Mountain Fire.” Approximately 60 people and multiple resources are currently assigned to the blaze.

The fire has been upgraded to 750 acres and is zero percent contained.

The Maple Springs, Black Mountain, and Camel Hollow Roads closed until further notice and and cabin is currently threatened.

Fire behavior is described as torching, running, and spotting fire behavior is observed.

The fire is visible from Cedar City and all surrounding roads. 

Currently no evacuations have have been issued and no injuries have been reported.
