ST. GEORGE – Just over seven months since he disappeared from his father’s home in Bayfield, Colorado, the search for Dylan Redwine has come to an end as his remains have been found.

La Plata County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado with multiple other agencies searched through difficult terrain in the Middle Mountain area north of Vallecito Lake from Saturday through Wednesday this week looking for clues related to the November 2012 disappearance of then 13-year-old Dylan Redwine.

A variety of items, including bones, were collected during the search.

The Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation yesterday stating that items sent to them for tests have been identified as human remains and that they were identified as those of Dylan.

The family, including Dylan’s cousins, LaVerkin residents Jason and Jamie Howard, have been notified.

Public Information Officer Dan Bender  said the Sheriff’s Office has no comment to make on the findings at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

Dylan arrived at Durango-La Plata County airport on November 18, 2012, and was picked up by his father, Mark Redwine for a court ordered Thanksgiving holiday visit. Dylan’s father told investigators Dylan was at his house on County Road 500 when he left to do some errands at about 7:30 a.m. on November 19, 2012. He said Dylan was gone when he returned to the house at about 11:30 a.m. that day. Elaine Redwine, Dylan’s mother, reported him missing to La Plata County Sheriff’s Office the following day. What began as a search and rescue mission became characterized as a criminal investigation in December 2012.
