ST. GEORGE – Throughout 2013, Dixie Regional Medical Center celebrates a CareCentennial of hospital history.
“We invite the community to celebrate with us,” Terri Kane, CEO and Dixie Regional administrator Terri Kane said. “We are planning many festivities throughout the year with our CareCentennial celebration on July 8, 2013, exactly 100 years from the date of the opening of Washington County Hospital.”
The birthday party activities will be open to the public on that date from 7-10 p.m. at the St. George Town Square.
“You’ll want to bring your whole family,” Kane said. “It’s not often we turn 100, and we’ve got some exciting things planned.”
Festivities include a car display showcasing the last 100 years of car design, a climbing wall, carnival-style family games and, of course, birthday cake.
Adults can bring blankets, relax on the grass, and enjoy live music on the main stage while little ones play in the splash pad and lazy river, participate in a LiVe Well obstacle course and play in a bounce house.
Children are also invited to participate in a coloring contest themed, “The next 100 years of healthcare.” Submissions will be used as part of a time capsule and a winner will be awarded on stage that evening.
For those participating in the Walk Washington County program, St. George Mayor McArthur will lead a simplified walk around the block starting at 8 p.m. at the tabernacle. After the walk on the main stage, hospital leadership will honor the contributions of Dr. Frank J. Woodbury and Dr. Donald A. McGregor with a special presentation to representatives of their families.
“We wouldn’t be where we are without our healthcare pioneers,” Kane said. “They created a legacy they and their families should be proud of, and we are excited to be able to honor them at our celebration.”
The night will conclude with an exciting fireworks show at dusk. For more information about CareCentennial events, please visit www.carecentennial.org or call 435.251.3629.
