Vehicles collide after one runs stop sign, temporarily blocking a part of the roadway, St. George, Utah, June 17, 2013 | Photo by Mori Kessler, St. George News
ST. GEORGE – An SUV ran a stop sign and impacted the driver side of a passing vehicle Monday afternoon, temporarily blocking a part of the roadway.
St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said an SUV was traveling eastbound Tabernacle Street around 3 p.m. and ran a stop sign at the 700 East intersection. A pickup truck traveling southbound on 700 East then hit the SUV. Despain said the force of the impact spun the SUV around in the intersection.
Both vehicles blocked part of the roadway for a time and were eventually towed away, reopening the entire intersection to traffic. Officers on scene cited the driver of the SUV for failure to stop at the stop sign.
No injuries were reported and both parties refused medical transport.

I got in a wreck there as well. A 75 year old lady blew through the stop sign doing 40 miles per hour. She wasn’t wearing her seat belt nor was I. I had a major concussion, whip lash, and tore my rotator cuff. When she hit my truck, I hit some other lady. Because of the age of the lady everyone said I was speeding which was not true. The lady I ended up hitting was screaming at me and entirely rude about the whole ordeal. I do not get why people in this town can’t stop count 3 seconds and then go if there is no oncoming traffic. I also wish police would enforce the law of slow drivers driving in the left lane and ticket them. But that will never happen.
This may not seem important, but suv was headed northbound on 700 East judging by the rest of the info and varifing with the photos. It’s not possible to go eastbound and hit the drivers side of a car that’s headed southbound.
I agree Jared. This might be an area that ST George News might improve it’s practices. I have noticed a few discrepancies between events as reported by the reporter, and the captions beneath the pictures. Over all, I think that SG News does a fine job of reporting, and does it for free (to me). I think accuracy could be improved. But thank you for your efforts in getting the story out.

Actually you are so wrong Eric. the SUV was headed East and the pick up was headed south. Makes perfect sense the SUV ran the stop sign
Get your story correct. The mercedes ran the stop sign.
