ST. GEORGE – Almost 100 runners, and their friends and families, gathered at the St. George Motocross Park Saturday for the inaugural Rock N Roll Mud Run 5K. Slightly more kid-friendly than most races, this event was inspired by classic rock music and a drive to have fun.
Participants waded through mud pits, scrambled over tractor tires, and slipped their way through the obstacles littered throughout the course. Divisions ranged from a 1K kid run, up to a full 5K for the older kids and the adults.

Everyone who entered received a participant medal, and 13 winners of different categories were awarded guitars. Keeping with the rock ‘n’ roll theme, local band Identity Crisis played classic rock songs to the racers as they made their way through the challenges.
“Here, I just wanted to have fun,” promoter and organizer Sean Reddish said. “I wanted people to enjoy what we are doing.”
In preparation for this event, organizers decided to minimize sponsorships, and test out the viability of bringing their line of race events to St. George. Other events by Off-Road Sports include ATVs and motorcycles. Despite the change of pace in organizing a 5K, members of Off-Road Sports are no strangers to building tracks, and creating race events.
“We wanted everyone to leave with a smile on their face, and I think we succeeded on that.” Reddish said.
In reaction to this inaugural event, thoughts are hopeful for future events in the St. George area. Meanwhile, Off-Road Sports continues on with races in Huntington Beach, Calif. and Primm, Nevada.
