ST. GEORGE – Family Dollar Distribution Center, located in the Fort Pierce Industrial area of St. George, is on schedule to begin operations this summer with the first group of employees scheduled to begin work next week.

About 120 employees have been hired so far, with 100 more remaining to be hired to complete “first shift” operations staffing. The company’s public relations manager, Bryn Winburn, said that a first group from the 120 already hired are scheduled to begin working May 20 or shortly thereafter.

Applications for employment are still being accepted. Interested applicants may apply online; applications are accepted on a continuing basis as turnover openings arise.

Hiring for a “second shift” operating staff is targeted for early 2014.

The $80 million highly-automated facility will be receiving incoming merchandise soon to allow for its first shipment out of the facility currently set for July 8. The center will service Family Dollar stores in California, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah.

A celebratory “Grand Opening” is planned for September 2013, the exact date pending confirmation of invited guests such as Utah’s governor, Gary Herbert. The Governor’s Office of Economic Development was instrumental in bringing the company to St. George by offering post-performance tax credit incentives.

Family Dollar only accepts applications online at Family Dollar Distribution Center Careers – there is a “click here” link for the St. George center at the top of the page. Positions currently featured for the St. George facility include “Production, Fleet, Clerical, and Maintenance positions.” Winburn said that applications are retained for position openings that may later arise, and new positions post regularly so applicants are encouraged to revisit the site periodically.

You are so wrong on that comment you need to check yourself. All of the interviewers are from Family Dollar Distribution centers elsewhere. Religion has nothing to do with it.
