HURRICANE – A triple-car accident occurred Tuesday afternoon on state Route 9 that impacted traffic and left three people injured, resulting in one being transported to the hospital via Life Flight.
Around 4 p.m., Hurricane City Police officers responded to a crash involving three vehicles at the intersection of 3400 West and SR-9.
The accident blocked westbound traffic, which had to be redirected for approximately 90 minutes. Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue medical personnel responded to those injured and one person had to be extricated from a vehicle.
Life Flight was called to the scene to transport the individual who was extricated, while two other people involved in the crash were transported by ambulance. Their conditions and the extent of their injuries was not disclosed by the Hurricane Police Department.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Utah Department of Transportation personnel also responded to assist with traffic control.
The accident was cleared by 6 p.m.
A separate, two-car accident occurred at Exit 16 on the northbound on-ramp for Interstate 15 off SR-9 at 3:40 p.m. The incident was relatively minor and did not impact traffic. One individual was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
