Going into Friday night’s crucial Region 9 match with Hurricane, Snow Canyon had only scored 10 goals in 11 games this season and had been shutout five times. Hamblin himself had only scored two goals all season.

Bit with the season winding down and thoughts of missing the playoffs looming large, Hamblin and the Warriors suddenly found their offense.

Snow Canyon beat Hurricane 3-1 and Hamblin scored a pair of goals himself to help the Warriors earn three points in the Region 9 race for the playoffs.

The win gives SC 13 points, a full game’s worth ahead of the Tigers for that fourth and final playoff spot.

Navy Dalton had the other goal and Tyson Brough and the Warriors defense continued its strong play as Snow Canyon improved to 4-7-1 overall and 4-4-1 in region. SC plays at home against Dixie Tuesday night. The Flyers are one of three teams tied for first with 18 region points.

Pine View 6, Canyon View 0

The Panthers produced their best offensive output of the year against the last-place Falcons, with Michael Wade producing the region’s first hat trick of the season.

Justin Jones got the shutout and the Panthers exploded for five second-half goals. Scorers in the game also include Daniel Arellano, Kyler Prisbrey and Oscar Cardenas.

Pine View, 6-5-0 and 6-3-0, is tied with Dixie and Desert Hills with 18 region points, though the Panthers have played one more game than the Flyers and Thunder. Pine View is home for Cedar Tuesday night.

Canyon View, 2-10-0 and 0-8-0, hosts Cedar Saturday.

Desert Hills 1, Cedar 0

Vincent Enfield continues to play a hot goalie, keeping the Redmen off the scoreboard for his sixth shutout of the season.

The only goal in the contest was a Cedar own-goal off of a Desert hills corner kick. The Thunder, 9-2-1 overall and 6-2-0 in region, are tied with Dixie and Pine View with 18 region points. Desert Hills is home for Canyon View Tuesday night.

The Redmen, 6-4-1 and 3-4-0, play at Canyon View Saturday at 1 p.m.
