ST. GEORGE – The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for outlying portions of Utah’s Dixie and Zion National Park in effect from noon today to noon Wednesday. This advisory does not include the City of St. George.
North to northeast winds of 20-30 mph with gusts in excess of 50 mph will increase out of the north and northeast around midday. These stronger winds will continue outside of St. George through Wednesday morning and are expected through the north to south canyons in Utah’s Dixie.
Travel and wind sensitive operations will be impacted.
A wind advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 31 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. Motorists in the advisory area should be prepared for sudden gusty crosswinds which can make driving difficult.
