ST. GEORGE – Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle accident on Red Cliffs Drive Monday afternoon that sent one person to the hospital.
The St. George Communications Center received a call around 3:55 p.m. Monday advising that two vehicles had impacted each other at 1680 Red Cliffs Drive. A passenger car was apparently leaving the Red Cliffs Mall parking lot and was hit on the left side by an SUV traveling northbound on Red Cliffs Drive.
St. George Police responded to the scene and said that the driver of the passenger car, a woman in her 50s, needed to be cut out of the car. Members of the St. George Fire Department responded to the scene and were able to extricate her. The woman was then transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center. The extent of her injuries was unknown at the scene.
Traffic on Red Cliffs Drive was slowed with momentary stops as firefighters worked to remove the woman from the passenger car. The scene was cleared by 4:40 p.m.
As the investigation into the accident is currently ongoing, the St. George Police Department was unable to confirm additional details when contacted by St. George News.
