ST. GEORGE – P.A.W.S., an animal rescue organization in St. George, in coordination with Best Friends Animal Society, in Kanab, rescued 42 cats and kittens from an elderly woman’s home in Beaver today. The rescue was made at the owner’s request, mitigating an animal hoarding situation.
According to P.A.W.S. Facebook posts, they will return next week to pick up an additional 20 cats.
Thus far, 39 of the rescues need to be spayed or neutered and vaccinated. Best Friends will assist with that. Some of the cats have eye infections and one is at risk of losing an eye, these will require veterinary attention.
P.A.W.S. is looking to rent additional space to accommodate the felines as its existing facility is too small to absorb this large of a rescue.
The rescue organizations have published desperate pleas to the community for immediate help. Needed are donations of funds, litter, food and beds – and adoptions!
