UPDATE published Feb. 17, 2013 5:30 p.m. – Victim in aggravated assault case dies, police still searching for suspect
ST. GEORGE – The police are seeking a man for questioning concerning an aggravated assault that took place early Saturday morning.
The St. George Police Department responded to the 1000 North block of 1340 West on an assault call where it was reported a 31-year-old male was assaulted by another 31-year-old male.
The victim suffered significant injury to his head and was transported via Life Flight to Las Vegas for treatment. He is currently listed as being in critical condition.
The suspect involved has been identified as Mario A. Lucero who fled the scene prior to the police being notified of the altercation.
Lucero is wanted for questioning in the assault investigation. Investigators obtained a $50,000.00 cash only warrant for his arrest. He has connections to St. George, Ivins and Hurricane, as well as Mesquite, Nev., New Mexico and Southern California.
He should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.
