Letter to the Editor: Stand for Life Gathering, anniversary of Roe v Wade; invitation to assemble

LETTER TO THE EDITOR – Forty years ago, January 22, the U.S. Supreme court contended that abortion is an implied “right of privacy,” one that had previously been hidden in the U.S. constitution. Abortion on demand has been a legal practice ever sInce. A practice that is with cost. The greatest cost being the loss of life, 53 million babies. Other line items on this invoice, regret and guilt experienced by mothers and families victimized by this unjust law.

God has much to say about life, after all He is the author of it. Life is precious to God, so much so that the penalty given for willful taking of life is a capital crime (Genesis 9:5-6). Please understand it is not the job of the individual to take up this gauntlet, it is the duty given to the state (Romans 13:1-6). Life must be regarded as the precious gift that it is. The problem at hand is that our government seeks to punish the innocent, and protect the guilty. Recently we’ve seen this tendency in the push to ban certain firearms. Even Jesus advocated a place for defense, He asked His disciples if they had a sword, they had two, and He praised them for it (Luke 22:36-38).

Lets now examine the crisis at hand. Surgical abortion has taken 53 million human lives, an average of 3,630 babies a day. Planned parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider, recently released its annual report. They received $542 million from government sources in 2011-2012 while performing 995,687 abortions from 2009-2011. In 2011 alone, its clinics performed 333,964 abortions. When we break this down to an approximate annual basis, they received $1,622 in government funds for every abortion performed, one abortion every 94 seconds. This is the picture of abortion on demand.

The above information is only half the story, for Planned Parenthood also provides birth control pills. These pharmaceuticals allow for conception to occur, but not implantation in the uterus. This is an abortion. They also provide the morning after pill, this is an abortion as well. We can only imagine what the actual abortion story holds. The number of deaths is staggering. I can only assume the numbers associated with it. This year a baby in its mothers womb has a 40% chance of experiencing live birth. This a staggering statement, but given the variables stated above I believe it to be a fair assessment, not a pleasant one.

The answer to our quandary is personal sacrifice, and personal responsibility. As a nation we must endeavor to be just. Abortion on demand is not just, it is symptomatic of a greater ill. Humanity! We are the problem! If we model our laws after the Lawgiver, we as a people will be blessed, if we don’t we will be cursed (Deuteronomy 28). The hurdle we must overcome is that we by our very nature do not seek God (Romans 3). We need God to act upon us and gift us with faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). We cannot boast in our greatness as a nation, while this cancer of the heart eats away at our families, our economies, our next generation.

We must understand, God will not be mocked. He demands that we as a nation repent! (Acts 17:30-31). The judgement of abortion is a generational problem, many of the aborted children would be working, getting married, having children, inventing, solving, blessing, and being blessed. Instead we are in massive debt, taxed at greater levels than Roman tyrants dreamed of, elderly are being abandoned, and children are seen as a hindrance to drywall. In 1900 the average home was 900 sf and the birthrate was 3.8 children per household. Today, 2000 sf. and 1.6 children per household. We’ve doubled our drywall and divided our children, this is a curse indeed!

It is for this reason, concerned citizens all across the nation will be gathering to speak for those unable to speak for themselves. Cross Point Christian Fellowship and Desert Ridge Baptist Church believe it is our duty to invite our community to join this stand for life.

Date: January 22, 2013

Time: 5 p.m.- 7 p.m.

Place: 595 S Bluff St., St. George, Utah

I want to be clear, this is a peaceful gathering! We are not showing up to be a blight, but a light.

If you share our concern for this war on the unborn, we implore you come. Please come and assemble for the sake of standing for justice. The violence was begun by the black robed knights of 1973. Let the healing be done in peaceful demonstration and the petitioning of our sovereign God. Here we stand we can do nothing else. God save us! Save our nation from our nation.

I see the pastor is a spin master. Please pastor show us where ANY tax dollar given to Planned Parenthood was used for an abortion. Please provide factual data concerning abortion from an independent source! Lastly tell me how many children you have adopted.

    Ken,
Thanks for taking time out to read my article. I used as the source of my information planned parenthoods reporting. I currently have 6 children and I am going through the adoption process at this time.

Once again John show where any tax dollars were used for abortions! Not that PP does abortions by that actual tax dollars are used! No spin please. Well that’s great that your going through the process. Please tell all those kids that are wards of the state and in foster homes what your doing for them!

In 1994, Mitt Romney said “I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country,” Romney declared in a debate with Kennedy. “I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a US Senate candidate.”

In 2002, Governor Romney wrote in response to National Abortion Rights Action League’s candidate survey, “I respect and will protect a woman’s right to choose. This choice is a deeply personal one. Women should be free to choose based on their own beliefs, not mine and not the government’s.”

For the 2012 Presidential campaign, Romney said “I’ll be a Pro-Life President”

I think this proves that with politicians, it’s not about their stance on an issue, it’s all about getting the vote.

    Ken,
I am encouraged by your desire to know more about this issue. There are some 30 states that use federal money for abortion services. Here is a link that does confirm this http://www.prochoice.org/about_abortion/facts/public_funding.html. Notice this is a site advocating the pro death position. As for your statement about adoption, I am only one man. I can’t do everything, but I can do something. This is what I am doing. Thanks again.

Right John using a pro choice website to bolster your lunatic claims is amusing, sorta like using your mother for a job reference. Thanks for the spin again! Facts just aren’t your forte!!

“God has much to say about life, after all He is the author of it. Life is precious to God…”

Absolutely! God teaches us to only advocate peace and love! HE is so against the killing children that He sent the Angel of Death to kill all of the first born children of Egypt in Exodus 12:29. God also showed His infinite love of children when He sent two bears to tear forty two children apart in 2 Kings 2:23-24. But those were children that were already born you say.. Your right! God has a special love for the unborn as proven in Hosea 13:16 where He says:“their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.” These are just a FEW of the great love and peace affirming things that GOD has done…. Your Christian Bible is full of so much HATE, MURDER, INFANTICIDE, and INTOLERANCE that it is laughable that you would set yourself up as being on the moral high ground in HIS name.

It is very, VERY hard to take someone serious when I read misleading “facts” like those quoted above. According to the author, the money received by PP was ONLY used for abortion?!?!?
I have a super high deductible on my medical insurance, and I couldn’t afford an IUD if it were not for PP. I still paid for it. It wasn’t free, but cheaper than at my PCP. PP allowed me to make a good choice for me and my body. PP is not only about abortions, but people who manipulate statistics like those above will never get off their holier than thou soap box to recognize that.
