ST. GEORGE – This Saturday brings the City of St. George’s first race of the year, the “St. George Half Marathon, 5K and Tuff Kids Run,” presented by Nordic Track.

This brisk race will loop through the beauty of the southernmost part of St. George, Utah. Beginning at the new Crosby Family Confluence Park by the Dixie Center St. George, this scenic loop takes you alongside the Virgin River with great vistas and viewpoints.
The St. George half marathon hosts approximately 2,000 runners each year. This year the half marathon and the 5K races will begin at 9 a.m. on Jan. 19, the Tuff Kids Run will start at 11:30 a.m.
All races will begin and end at Confluence Park. Race morning temperatures are expected to hover between 30-50 degrees.
“Loved the St. George Half Marathon this past weekend – now that the soreness has gone away,” Anne Simmons said in response to last year’s run, “it’s all just one big happy memory.”
Sports Expo
The St. George Half Marathon will also host a Sports Expo this Friday from noon to 9 p.m. The Expo is free and open to the public. Race participants will pick up packets and T-shirts during this time.
St. George Races
Annually, the City of St. George organizes a number of races, the most notable being the St. George Marathon, which Runner’s World Magazine recognized in 2010 as the “Most Organized Race.” Other races organized by the city include half-marathons, 5 and 10Ks, team relays, and triathlons.
“With great weather and scenery, St. George is the perfect venue for the city to hold memorable and fantastic races,” Assistant St. George City Race Coordinator Michelle Graves said.
