ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah and Sorenson Advertising will host a university naming community meeting on Wednesday, at which they will publicly announce the findings collected from the three-month process of exploring a new university identity and brand for DSC.
In October 2012, DSC announced its partnership with Sorenson Advertising to engage all institutional stakeholders in one-on-one interviews, focus groups, public forums and an online comprehensive quantitative questionnaire in an effort to establish a new institutional identity as DSC progresses towards gaining university status.
The findings from the online survey along with all research and data collected during the three-month process will be made public at the meeting, to be held Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. at the Avenna Center Cox Auditorium. From those findings, Sorenson Advertising will announce its conclusions and recommendations for the new school name.
The DSC Board of Trustees will review the comprehensive report and vote to select a new university name on Jan. 18. The name recommendation will then advance for approval by the Utah State Board of Regents at a meeting on the school campus Jan. 25; it is anticipated that the Regents will also vote to formally approve university status for DSC at the meeting.
Lastly, the matter will move on to the Utah State Legislature, where the new institutional name will be presented for final approval and funding consideration.
