SOUTHERN UTAH – The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Winter Weather advisory for snow, which is in effect until 11 a.m. MST on Thursday.
* Affected area: The southern mountains of Utah.
* Snow accumulations: Accumulation of 8 to 16 inches.
* Timing: Snow will continue to increase in intensity and areal coverage this morning. Heavy snowfall will develop by late this morning and continue through this evening. Periods of light but accumulating snowfall will continue into Thursday morning.
* Impacts: All high elevation roadways through the advisory area will see hazardous driving conditions due to heavy snowfall.
Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the Southern mountains.
Precautionary/preparedness actions: A winter weather advisory means that snow accumulations will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads. Use caution while driving.
