ST. GEORGE Alvin Ralon “Doc” Holley, age 88, passed away December 1, 2012, at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah. Alvin was born August 29, 1924 in Rexburg, Idaho. He was the fourth child to William Ingram Holley and Lottie Verna Nichols. Alvin attended Madison High School in Rexburg. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Bio-chemistry from Brigham Young Academy in 1949. Alvin served in the 82nd Airborne During World War II, until he was injured and released.
After graduating from dental school at the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1955, Alvin practiced dentistry in Idaho for 10 years then moved to Stockton, California where he enjoyed a successful orthodontic practice for 30 years. Alvin and his wife Dee retired to Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming in 1992. Alvin loved missionary work and shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ in three LDS mission presidencies in Fresno, California. He was a favorite speaker on many topics including the life of the Savior Jesus Christ. His favorite subjects were “Eternal Progression” and “Love” and authored the book titled, “The Infinite and Eternal Destiny of Man”. Alvin was an avid fisherman, golfer and white water rafter.
Alvin is survived by his wife Dolores “Dee” Topham and four children: Christine (Mark) Perkins of Turlock, CA, John W. Holley of Charlotte, NC, Valerie (Stacey) Son of Dallas, TX and Allison Hunt (St. George, UT) as well as siblings, Melvin Holley and Katherine Bowen. Alvin was preceded in death by parents, and siblings: Bill, Dora, Roy, Ira and Jim. Alvin and Dee have 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Alvin and Dee were married for 60 years. Alvin died of complications related to congestive heart failure. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 4461 South Country Club Drive, St. George, Utah at 3:00 in the afternoon, Saturday, December 8, 2012.
