‘Jacks run over Dixie State

ARCATA, Calif. – Nick Ricciardulli rushed for 206 yards with two touchdowns and added another score through the air to lead the Humboldt State Lumberjacks to a 57-18 win in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play over Dixie State on Saturday night.

The Lumberjacks (6-2, 5-2 GNAC) blasted the Red Storm defense for 685 yards of total offense – 369 coming on the ground. Rucciardulli has two scores (13, 16) and teammate Daniel Wyatt scored three times (3, 10, 60) on the ground en route to 95 yards.

Dixie State (3-5, 3-4 GNAC) saw its defense play nearly 40 minutes of the game on the field did post 412 yards of offense as well.

Griff Robles (Spanish Fork, UT/Spanish Fork) returned to the starting lineup for the first time in three games. He completed 20 of 50 passes for 262 yards and a touchdown strike to Mitch Frei (Santa Clara, UT/Snow Canyon). He also rushed for a touchdown on seven carries.

Matt Tanuvasa (Laie, HI/Southridge) produced his best game of the season with 11 tackles, including a sack. Cache Morgan (West Jordan, UT/West Jordan) had seven tackles and returned a blocked PAT for a Dixie State two-point conversion on special teams.

The Red Storm return home for the next two weeks. First, DSC hosts Simon Fraser on October 27 for the annual Homecoming festivities. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. from Hansen Stadium.
