Teens arrested after car chase in Washington

WASHINGTON – Three teens were arrested Sunday night after taking Washington City police on a short-lived vehicle chase.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., on Oct. 14,  a Washington City police officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of 1100 East Telegraph Road after he observed there was not a license plate on the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to the officer’s attempt to stop him and fled at speeds near the posted limit into a neighborhood in the area. The occupants of the vehicle jumped out and fled on foot. It was determined by officers that the vehicle had recently been stolen from a location in St. George.

Three male juveniles, ages 14, 16 and 17, were located in the immediate vicinity and taken into custody without incident. They were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and failure to stop for police.

The 16 and 17-year-old juveniles were booked into the Washington County Juvenile Detention Center and the 14-year old was referred to juvenile court on the charges.

Submitted by the Washington City Police Department.
