ST. GEORGE – The St. George Marathon weekend is almost here. This is its 36th year, the corollary Annual Health & Fitness Expo is on tomorrow, for its 36th year, and for those not running the race, there is the Mayor’s Walk, in its 26th year, open to all.
Here is your Marathon weekend primer:
Health & Fitness Expo
Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dixie Center, 1835 Convention Center Dr. in St. George
Mayor’s Walk
Saturday from 7-8 a.m.
The one-hour Mayor’s walk begins at Bluff Street Park, 700 N. Bluff St., and ends at Vernon Worthen Park, 350 E. 300 S., in St. George. Bus service from Vernon Worthen back to Bluff Street Park will be provided beginning at 8 a.m.
Registration is open and unlimited at:
Health & Fitness Expo at the Dixie Center, Mayor’s Walk Booth
Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Or Exchange Club’s Mayors Walk Pavilion at Bluff Street Park
Saturday 6 a.m. before the walk begins
Entry Fee is $10.00. Entrants will receive a Mayor`s Walk T-shirt, walker number, walk with the Mayor, and a scone. Hats and visors are available for $10.00 each.
St. George Marathon
Saturday at 6:40 a.m. wheelchairs and handcranks start, 6:45 a.m. runners start, from Central to the finish line at Vernon Worthen Park in St. George
Wheelchair and handcrank competitors cross the finish line shortly after the Mayor’s Walk ends, around 8 a.m; first runners come in not long after that.
