UPDATE Sept. 1, 2012: The Amber Alert for 17-year-old Melissa Duran of Henderson, Nevada, is cancelled as of 6:45 a.m. today, Sept. 1. According to KTLA Los Angeles, the teen was found safe at 4:35 a.m. and at least one of the male suspects in her abduction has been taken into custody.
HENDERSON, Nev. – A 17-year-old Henderson girl was abducted this morning from her
Henderson home by two suspects.
Two suspects approached the house in the area of Warm Springs Road and Arroyo Grande Boulevard Friday about 7:30 a.m. and knocked on the door. When Melissa Duran opened the door, she was abducted by the men. A ransom demand was later made in a phone call to Melissa’s parents.
The suspects fled the area in a late model red two-door passenger car with a blue fender on the front passenger side.
Henderson Police are following up on leads and have put out and Amber Alert in an effort to locate the missing girl.
Attached to this release is a photo of Melissa Duran, a neighbor’s surveillance video which captured the suspects’ car driving by and a still of the suspects’ car from the video.
At 1:30 p.m. AMBER Alert Activated.
At 3:50 p.m. According to Henderson Police Department, there have been two calls to Melissa’s parents demanding ransom for her safe return. Investigators are concerned that the suspects may have fled to either Southern Utah, Northern Arizona or Southern California.
At 5:00 p.m. Henderson Police have asked to expand the AMBER Alert to a Statewide Alert for Nevada including the Reno and Elko areas.
