MINERSVILLE – The Baboon Fire is 100 percent contained as of 6 p.m., Sunday.
Nick Howell with the Bureau of Land Management said approximately 60 firefighters will remain on scene to secure remaining hot spots. The fire behavior is minimal and no evacuations or road closures are in effect. The fire burned a total of 19,032 acres.
Incident priorities are the rehabilitation of 16 miles of dozer line and securing hot spots on the south perimeter of the fire where rugged terrain exists.
A local BLM Type IV Incident Commander is now in command of the incident after transitioning with Ybright’s Color Country Type III Team at 6 a.m., Sunday morning.
Located four miles south of Minersville, the Baboon Fire was sparked by a lightning strike Thursday afternoon.
