St. George Police warning of tailgate thefts

police

ST. GEORGE – St. George Police have been receiving reports of theft of tailgates. Four truck tailgate thefts have been reported to police since May 30.

Capt. James Van Fleet of the St. George Police said four stolen tailgates were all taken at night.  Two were stolen from a business, one from a hotel, and one from an apartment complex.  The vehicle-years that the tailgates were taken from have ranged from 2007-2012.

The Police Department is asking the public to lock their truck tailgates. Van Fleet said locking the tailgate could deter most criminals. He also advised that parking in a well-lit area and location that is visible to others can help lower the risk of theft, as most criminals want to go unnoticed.

If anyone has information about these truck tailgate thefts, please contact the St. George Police Department at (435) 627-4300 or submit a tip online at St. George Police Tips

Only four tailgates since May 30? That’s a laugh, I could see a warning from police if it was like over a dozen or something lol!

Maybe if thieves would steal them all, it would cut way back on all the tailgating we have in this town!

Lol, good point Oscar. This goes to show just how low of a crime rate we still have. Surprised.
