ST. GEORGE  – The PGA Champions Tour is playing the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf tournament in Savannah, Georgia.

Tour players are in two-man teams playing “better ball” or best score on the hole. There are 25 teams in the event.

St. George’s Jay Don Blake is playing in the tournament for the first time and is teaming up with former Players Champion Fred Funk.

Blake said “Fred is a great guy and a great golfer.” “He has won a bunch of times on both tours (PGA and Champions).

Funk won eight tournaments on the PGA Tour including the Players Championship. Funk also won three majors on the Champions tour to go along with three other wins (six total).

Blake is very excited to get out and play in this event after being so close last year. “Last year I was an alternate and did not get in,” Blake said. “I got to play some practice rounds here and I really like the course, its just really hot out here.”

Other notable teams in the event are: Tom Lehman and Bernhard Langer, Jay Haas and Fred Couples, and defending champions Mark McNulty and David Eger.

The tournament starts on Friday and goes thru Sunday. Saturday and Sunday television coverage will be on CBS from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday’s action can be seen on the Golf Channel from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
