Twenty-second Parade of Homes largest yet with shuttle service added

ST. GEORGE– The 22nd annual St. George Area Parade of Homes begins Feb. 17 and runs through Feb. 26.

This year’s event features 28 homes, which will make this year the largest show yet.

“We have over 23,000 people attend each year,” said Carol Sapp, Southern Utah Home Builders Association executive officer. “[The show] will be as good as or better than years past.”

“The show drew 30,000 attendants before the recession hit our area,” Sapp said, adding that increasing gas prices and the decreasing economy have also caused a drop in attendance.

This year’s event offers a shuttle service for an additional $25 that will transport show attendants to each house on the parade route.

“That should be fun, to be delivered to the front door and have a ride waiting there when you come out,” Sapp said.

Each home is built and designed by local builders and decorators. The homes are completely landscaped and furnished for parade goers to obtain decorating tips and ideas for their own homes.

Coyote Gulch Art Village is a perfect addition to those enjoying the Parade this year, particularly as they visit Parade Home Number 10, “Terra Caelo,” situated in Kayenta. The Art in Kayenta festival, in its 13th year, will run for three days from Feb. 17-19, featuring artists in oils and other media, musicians, singers, food and more.

The Parade homes are all for sale, with prices ranging from $270,000 to $1.4 million. The home locations are spread throughout Southern Utah and display unique styles, techniques and décor.

Tickets are $12.50 per person. Children 3 and younger are free. To purchase tickets visit any Southern Utah Lin’s Market, the Red Cliffs Mall, or online at the Parade’s website. http://paradehomes.com/

“The Parade of Homes has been an outstanding event for a long time because of the quality we maintain throughout the show,” Sapp said. “We try to make it consistent from year-to-year, and we have people from all over the country who attend.”
