Tigers need to defeat Cowboys before Juan Diego rematch

HURRICANE – The Hurricane Tigers (10-0) can’t afford to look ahead to their possible semi-final match up against Juan Diego, they need to take care of the Grantsville Cowboys (7-4) first.

The Tigers should not have any problems with the Cowboys, but coach Chris Homer does not want his boys thinking about Juan Diego just yet.

“This team is more focused at the task at hand,” Homer said. “They come to play from the first snap and don’t over look teams.”

The Cowboys struggle putting points on the board, only averaging 18.9 ppg compared to the Tigers 41.1 ppg.

Tiger starters have not played many second-half downs since week four because they have been up by so many points. Homer is going to have to play his starters a little longer to get them ready for the big semi-final game.

If the Cowboys have any chance, they will need to play a near-perfect game and have huge games from quarterback Max Cook and running back Ky Fisher. Cook has thrown 820 yards and one touchdown all season, but has thrown eight interceptions.  Fisher has scored eight times on the ground this year but has only rushed for 316 yards.

Tigers’ leading rusher Brian Scott has ran for 1,215 yards and 24 touchdowns without touching the ball in the second half of the last three or four games.
