The Red Balloon, 4D movie rides to frighten in a whole new way

ST. GEORGE – Laser Mania Family Fun Center is proud to announce the premiere of “The Red Balloon,” an internationally acclaimed horror short film, now showing in their newest attraction, the 4D Movie Ride.

Lasting a little over 10 minutes, this film is perfect for guests looking for a new way to be frightened this H

alloween season. It tells the story of a babysitter disturbed several times on a rainy night by the little girl she’s watching. The babysitter puts her back to bed multiple times and tells her it’s just a nightmare … or is it?

“The Red Balloon is already very scary, and then you add the interactivity of our 4D Movie Ride and it becomes downright frightening. The movie is projected in 3D, the seats jump at just the right time, guests get poked in the back, and many other effects are used to enhance the experience,” said Jarett Waite, owner of Laser Mania and the programmer for the effects.

To watch The Red Balloon, guests must be 13 years or older or accompanied by a brave adult. This is due to several frightening scenes, though this movie was chosen in particular because it contains no gore, violence, or demonic themes. It will show through the end of October.

Also showing for guests wanting to be spooked this Halloween, but who generally shy away from horror films, is “Tomb of the Pharaoh Queen.” Recommended for ages eight and above, this computer-generated imagery animation film takes guests into a forgotten tomb where mummies come alive, booby-traps abound, and large spiders lay waiting for their prey.

“It’s so fun to hear screams coming from the ride,” Waite said. “It has almost become normal for guests in our lobby to hear shrieks whenever a movie is playing. I love getting that strong of a reaction out of our attraction.”

Laser Mania Family Fun Center is in its twelfth year of business; it provides entertainment in a clean, family-friendly environment. Attractions include Laser Tag, Blacklight Miniature Golf, 4D Movie Ride, Bumper Cars, and a large arcade. It is located at 67 E. St. George Blvd.
