ST. GEORGE – The two-time defending Region champion Hurricane Tigers (7-0, 4-0) look to make it three-straight with a win over the Desert Hills Thunder (6-1, 4-0) tonight at Desert Hills High School at 7 p.m.
What an exciting game this will be. The No. 1 offense vs. the No. 1 defense, the best two running backs in the Region going head-to-head, and so many other headlines you could use.
I can sound like a broken record when it comes to the Tigers. Running back Brian Scott, the Region’s leading rusher averaging 144 yards per game and almost 10 yards per carry, will like always be very tough to take down. And when you think you might have him under control, other Tigers like Weston Yardley, Jared Edwards or Adam Thompson will hit you with a big gain off the edge. It is only then that teams have realized they did not have Scott under control, he was just getting a quick rest and Scott will take off for another long run.
The Thunder have a similar style with running back Mike Needham who averages 116 yards per game and 9.23 yard per carry. Needham will break defensives down and when other defensives think they have him under control, quarterback Porter Harris will take off for a huge gain down the sideline. Harris is not just a run threat; Harris is a very good passer averaging 135 yards per game.
